Loved & Protected

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.  I John 3:1

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

There is so much brokenness in the world around us that it is easy to walk through life with a general sense of anxiety.  For most of us, anxiety regarding the security of our family or responsibilities at work can be overwhelming at times (myself included).  It is easy to become distracted and forget the promises God has made to all of us that accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.  I had a recent experience that crystallized this concept for me.   I was having a particularly challenging day at work and my anxiety had risen to a moderate to high level.  I was returning to my office from a pressured meeting.  As I walked in the door, my phone started ringing.  When I answered the phone, I immediately recognized who was calling me.  He is a very Godly man that I know well but do not talk to often.  He told me God had put me on his heart and he wanted me to know that I was loved and protected.  I got a little teary as I shared he could not have called at more perfect time.  I had goosebumps.  I am absolutely certain God had my friend call right when I needed to hear about His promise of love and protection for me.

Since that day, “I am loved and protected” has become my mantra.  I have always known this but God blessed me with a much needed reminder.  If we truly believe in God’s promises of love and protection, we have nothing to fear.  That’s an easy thing to say but do you truly believe it?  I do.  I am a child of God.  He loves me in a way I will never comprehend.  Life will have challenges but he is always with me and He will protect me.  I have nothing to fear and neither do you if you allow Jesus Lordship over all of your life.  He is real and his promises are real.
