Pass It On

Pass It On

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19 & 20

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. I Peter 2:9 & 10 MES

A few weeks ago we were burning a couple of piles of brush. Of course for safety that means you hang around the fires until they are done burning. I started humming and singing parts of a song. When I consciously thought about what I was singing I asked myself why am I singing this. As I thought about it, number one, the song was about a spark and a fire and number two, it was a song I sang a lot in my teenage years and often around a fire. It is a blessing that the ways we experienced  God in our past can bring things into our minds today that keep us focused on Him. Here is the first stanza of the song:

It only takes a spark to get a fire going.

And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing.

That's how it is with God's Love,

Once you've experienced it,

You spread His love to everyone

You want to pass it on.

This is a simple song from a long time ago that has a message that is so important for us in the times we are living in. It is a good reminder to me to remain in a close relationship with God so I am receiving His love, loving others, and passing His love on to others. Let's join together and build that spark into a fire and pass it on. Are you in?
